This week, publisher Cat Neville joins McGraw Milhaven and Kelly Jackson on KTRS to chat about the winners of the 2017 Feast 50 Awards. The readers' choice awards highlight the best in food and drink in St. Louis, as well as Kansas City, Springfield and Columbia.

In St. Louis, Katie Collier of Katie's Pizza & Pasta Osteria was named Chef of the Year, Mike Johnson's Hi-Pointe Drive-In was named Best New Restaurant and Olive + Oak took home Restaurant of the Year. "Jesse Mendica is the chef there, and she is just doing a bang-up job," Cat says during the segment. "The food is approachable, but it's just really well-prepared and interesting."

Ari Jo Ellis of Kounter Kulture, a fast-casual concept serving locally sourced pan-Asian fare, was named the Rising Star Chef of the Year. Bolyard's Meat & Provisions in Maplewood won best Butcher Shop, Salume Beddu won Charcuterie Maker, Baetje Farms won Cheesemaker, Annie Gunn's won Steakhouse, Lulu's Local Eatery won Vegetarian and Baileys' Range won Burger. Other winners include Crown Candy Kitchen, Pint Size Bakery & Coffee, Vincent Van Doughnut, Kaldi's Coffee Roasting Co., Mai Lee and Pastaria.

"That's what I really love about what's happening in food – it's kind of a democratization of food," Cat says. "It doesn't matter what the price point is, it doesn't matter what the neighborhood is."
