Bar Limón Brings a New Latin-Inspired Late-Night Concept to Nixta

Since Ben Poremba's Nixta opened in November, the restaurant has kept its late-night bar concept, Bar Limón, on the down-low to gauge the response to the Latin-inspired venue.

But now, Bar Limón is ready to be known as the more sexy, energetic nightlife side of Nixta. At 10pm on Fridays and Saturdays, Nixta undergoes a transformation. Tables are cleared to make room for a dance floor, and beverages switch over to specialty cocktails and beers. Guests can munch on housemade guacamole and lamb tacos from chef Tello Carreon, or take to the dance floor for live salsa, merenque and cumbia.

"Bar Limón has always been part of the original Nixta concept," head bartender Drew Lucido says. "We wanted to recreate this atmosphere of salsa clubs, where people come in and really enjoy themselves."

Lucido offers a wide selection of tequilas, Mexican beers and house cocktails for Bar Limón guests to sip on. His favorite cocktail at the moment is Ocho, made with Mezcal, lime, grapefruit, Luxardo Maraschino and ghost pepper tincture.

The Nuevo cocktail, with pineapple rum, lime, rich brown sugar and simple syrup, as well as the Diez, made with Blanco Tequila, Velvet Falernum and lemon, are just a few more of the unique offerings.

"We hope to bring in more guests now that Bar Limón is in full swing," Lucido says. "Our main goal is to be a place where anyone can come, enjoy the live music, snack, drink and take in the experience."

Bar Limón is open Friday and Saturday from 10pm to midnight. Look for extended Thursday hours in the coming months.
