Of all melons you can grill, cantaloupe stands up best to the heat. The smoky char is a nice counterpoint to the fruit’s natural sweetness.

- 1 4-lb cantaloupe, sliced into 2-inch-thick pieces
| Preparation | In a charcoal grill, heat coals. Once hot, add cantaloupe slices directly onto grill, and cook for 1 to 2 minutes on each side. Finish with a touch of salt. Serve.
