Catalpa sandwich and side

Catalpa has transitioned its fine-dining menu to one of burgers and sides.

When COVID-19 hit mid-Missouri, Catalpa chef-owner Catalpa adapted quickly to stay afloat. She turned her acclaimed fine-dining restaurant to a burger joint overnight, but we aren't complaining; now, Huff is serving up some of the best sandwiches in mid-Missouri.

At Catalpa, you choose your protein – beef, turkey, Buttonwood Farms chicken, Impossible burger or an eight ounce tuna steak – then choose whether you want it your way or the Catalpa way. All sandwiches are served on fresh-baked garlic buns, but you can choose to add an array of toppings and cheeses. Catalpa way options include The Sweet Ginger (ginger teriyaki, grilled peppers and onions), The Desert Breeze (prickly pear sauce, fresh cucumbers and pickled red onions) and The German (brown sugar and garlic sauerkraut, Catalpa pink sauce and Havarti cheese), among others.

Each burger comes with a side, and they are so hard to choose from that you might end up paying to pick a second. Whether you spring for the kettle chips, creamy coleslaw, basil-bacon potato salad, chips and Catalpa salsa or Liz's favorite, the marinated bean salad, you will be left satisfied.

Catalpa is offering its menu for takeout and limited outdoor seating.
