It may be October, but for just a bit longer it may feel like we're still in the dog days of summer. And while plenty of us are ready to curl up in our sweaters with a cup of hot cocoa, one last taste of summer calls for one last frozen treat.
If you're craving a classic ice cream, head to Sparky's Homemade Ice Cream. The beloved local spot does classic flavors like vanilla and chocolate and does them well, but what makes Sparky's such a Columbia favorite is the fun flavors that rotate through its menu. Creative flavors include lavender-honey, green tea and a house favorite, the Oreo Speedwagon, a combination of coffee and cookies and cream flavors. Even if you don't eat dairy, be sure to ask about their options; they usually have at least a couple non-dairy flavors on hand.
When the weather allows, the best way to eat Sparky's is to grab a scoop in a cone and find a socially-distanced spot to sit outside. But if you would rather take it home to enjoy, you can also pick up a pint of your favorite flavor to enjoy bit by bit – but we won't judge if you polish it off in one sitting.
