You butter believe it ‒ GOPO’s subscription boxes are back.
Now you can get your favorite flavors of gourmet popcorn shipped right to your door. Each box contains two 64-ounce bags of popcorn (that’s right ‒ a full gallon), one bag that’s a traditional GOPO flavor you can buy in the store, and one bag that’s an exclusive treat made only for subscribers. Some of the monthly flavors include Cheesecake, Gooey Butter, Queso and a tempting Grasshopper Pie made with Crème de Menthe and Thin Mint Girl Scout cookie crumbles. This month’s seasonal flavor is a special Bomb Pop creation for the 4th of July.
“One that we don’t run in the store that is very popular is a Cinnamon Bun popcorn,” says Brooke Bartlett, one of the owners of the shop. “We ran that one last week. It’s a caramel base with a cinnamon swirl, and then it’s drizzled with white chocolate. It’s very rich, and it tastes just like a cinnamon bun.”
Bartlett and her husband run the shop together, and many of their fabulous flavors came out of their first trial with the subscription boxes. “Our subscription boxes were originally just a way to test our flavors because we didn’t have any at the time,” says Bartlett. “In the past, we would run two flavors that were new every month, and so we would have to come up with two new flavors every month. I think we hit about 70. That was hard. And honestly not every one was a winner, let’s just be honest.”
In addition to inventing new flavors each month, the Bartletts were also personally delivering each box. “The Subscription Club just kept growing, and growing, and growing, and growing to the point where it would take us hours to deliver all the boxes,” says Bartlett. “We just couldn’t keep up with it anymore.”
But now the Bartletts are using their new kernels of wisdom to perfect their subscription service. This time around, the boxes have a set menu with flavors that were most popular with previous subscribers, they’re shipped rather than delivered, you can choose how many months you’d like to subscribe for, none of the flavors contain nuts to accommodate allergies, and there’s often a small gift included to thank the subscribers. Last month’s boxes came with a “Thanks For Being My Pop” gift tag for Father’s Day.
Pop over to GOPO to try one of their six traditional flavors, or subscribe online to test some of the special seasonal flavors. All of GOPO’s popcorn is made with real butter and no preservatives, so it’s best to eat it within a week of delivery.
