After months of renovations, Las Margaritas Downtown is officially open for business. Bright blue walls and a mouth-watering aroma of Mexican food greet you when you walk into the brand-new location.
The newest location of Las Margaritas serves the same menu as the restaurant's other locations on Columbia's north and south side. To that end, look for a range of appetizers (including the popular Guacamole Mexicano), salads, burritos, fajitas, chimichangas, tacos and larger entrees alongside, of course, an impressive selection of Margaritas.
Yet a few things set the new location apart from its sister restaurants. Marketing Director Crystal Umfress says the space accommodates larger groups better than the Corporate Lake location, and the new location is also bringing in some new faces. “We’re seeing a lot of college students as well as teachers from the university,” she says.
The new location is also the first to feature high-top seating in the bar area. A large outdoor patio will be open on warmer days. Currently, the team is focused on introducing Las Margaritas' food menu to newcomers and training its new staff, but once the kinks are worked out, guests can expect to see drink specials including $2 Margaritas offered on certain days.
“Everybody’s anxious to try [the downtown location] out,” Umfress says.
The staff is already gearing up for Cinco de Mayo and planning out the specials that will be available at Las Margaritas during the holiday weekend. “The patio will be a good place to be that day,” Umfress says.
You can expect to see Margarita specials, a Mariachi band and a DJ during the celebration, but until then the colorful restaurant will be featuring its regular menu in the heart of downtown.
