For vegans in Cape Girardeau – and those who might be eating less meat in the new year – Trio is a welcome respite. The menu is completely plant-based, substituting tofu scramble for eggs, cashews for Parmesan and so on. But if you're looking for a particularly tasty and satisfying meal from Trio, we recommend picking up a dish that pays homage to one of America's favorite sandwiches: the Buffalo Meet Chick'n.
The Buffalo Meet Chick'n takes a classic spicy chicken sandwich and makes it completely plant-based. It starts with a fried "chicken" patty on a bun and is then topped with a vegan ranch, coconut cheese, Buffalo sauce, tomato, lettuce, pickle and red onion for a loaded sammy with none of the animal products.
If you're making the trip, make sure to pair your sandwich with some of Trio's indulgent starters or sides. Begin with cauliflower wings (Thai chile, barbecue, maple mustard or classic Buffalo) or the chili "cheese" dip served with fresh-fried Cajun-seasoned tortilla chips. As for sides, the loaded wedges are worth a look; try them smothered either barbecue-style, chili-style or Buffalo-style.
Trio is offering its menu for carryout and limited dine-in service.
