It's official: The team behind Blood & Sand has announced that it will be opening a new restaurant, Death in the Afternoon, in the old Terrace View space at Citygarden in late spring.

Ian Froeb (@ianfroeb), restaurant critic and beer writer at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, broke the news two hours ago in the following tweet: "Breaking: Blood & Sand team taking over Citygarden restaurant. To be called Death in the Afternoon. Lunch only at first. More later."

Blood & Sand's announcement then followed this evening in a newsletter to members of the private dining club in Downtown St. Louis.

"For anyone not familiar with Citygarden, it is an acclaimed urban oasis that is truly special and is an incredible asset for our city. We are elated at the opportunity to make it even more of a destination," the newsletter stated.

"We are fully aware that we wouldn't be in this position if it weren't for our amazing members who have supported and believed in us. From our entire staff, we can't fully express our gratitude and appreciation we have for you. You have given us the ability to share our passion for what we love to do, and there is no greater gift than that. We'll announce more details as we approach the opening, but as a small thank you there will be a couple of soft openings prior to launching that will be for Blood & Sand Members only."

More details as we receive them.
