We reported in March that Russell's Café & Bakery was moving a few doors down to a larger space at 952 Brookwood Center in Fenton. The space officially debuted Fri., June 8, and owner Russell Ping says so far business has been full steam ahead.

“We are loving the new space,” Ping tells us, and it sounds like customers are, too. "We've been really busy for lunch, and the word is also getting out about our evening hours," he says, adding that Russell’s is open at 7am for breakfast. (Check out the new snack and drink menus at left.)

During its happy hour on Fridays from 4 to 6pm, the café is hosting a series of wine and beer tastings from local purveyors. This Fri., June 29, Perennial Artisan Ales will have some of its brews on hand to sample.

"We're going to try to do this on Fridays for a while to get the word out and get people in," Ping says. He adds that there are also several new summer specialties on the menu, including an apricot and bourbon pulled pork, and the bakery case boasts seasonal treats like pound cake with fresh strawberries, lemon curd and whipped cream.
