The much-anticipated opening of chef/restaurateur Gerard Craft’s Pastaria is here.

Craft made the announcement yesterday from his Twitter handle, @GerardFCraft:

"And I guess we are open! @PastariaSTL closing at 10 but we will be here all weekend! pic.twitter.com/IaGUnwfH"

Excitement had been building locally for the Italian-focused restaurant since Craft first announced the concept in 2011 and then, in early January, the location in Clayton's Centene Plaza. The buzz even reached a national level, with Eater National listing it as one of its 25 most anticipated restaurant openings of 2012.

St. Louis Magazine's George Mahe delivers a look inside and snapshot of the menu here. Mahe also reports that Pastaria officially opens for business at 5pm today.
