Can’t get enough of garlic? Schlafly gardeners Jack Petrovic and Nolan Kowalski will show you how to always have some at your fingertips during the fourth annual Grow Your Own Garlic event at 7pm on Sat., Aug. 18, in the Schlafly Bottleworks Crown Room.

They’ll cover the different varieties, when to plant and harvest; how to care, cure and store your crop; and how to taste the aromatic bulb. They’re hosting the event on a Saturday night instead of a Saturday morning this year, so attendees can get some food and/or beer in their stomachs before the tasting. “Raw garlic can be pretty intense in the morning,” Petrovic says.

The event is free, and seating is limited, so don’t dawdle. Past garlic-growing nights have yielded strong turnouts, Petrovic says: “Last year alone we got almost 100 people to grow their own.”
