UPDATE -- Tue., April 10, 9:38am: Thanks to an outpouring of community support, StewedSTL met its Kickstarter goal for new equipment with a week left to spare before the deadline. With eight days left to go in the campaign, they're continuing to raise money, with 30 percent of all overages going to the St. Louis Area Food Bank. Click here to donate!
Four local bloggers behind the food-focused podcast StewedSTL have started a Kickstarter campaign to raise at least $2,000 for new equipment.
Launched last June and dubbed "St. Louis's Most Opinionated Podcast," StewedSTL is made up of Mike Sweeney of STL Hops and FEAST's On The Shelf beer columnist; Bill Burge of stlbites; Kelli Best-Oliver of South City Confidential; and Andrew Mark Veety, who blogs under his own name. Guests have included prominent St. Louis-area chefs, including Gerard Craft, Joshua Galliano and Mike Emerson.
This Kickstarter project will only be funded if at least $2,000 is pledged by Wed., April 18, at 1:39pm EDT. The group is halfway to that goal and seeking support from listeners and the community to reach it.
A post on the group’s website, stewedstl.com, states: “If we want to continue getting Stewed – and do it in the way that we envisioned when we started out - we're going to need to make some upgrades to the equipment we've been using. We have had some awesome guests and some semi-decent hosts, however we often have audio problems that make the show less than fun for us to produce and ultimately for you to listen to. We’d like to fix that.”
If you want to donate, there are currently two ways to do so. You can click here to contribute directly to the campaign through Kickstarter’s website, or you can head to 4 Hands Brewery on Thu., April 12, for a special benefit evening for StewedSTL through which the brewery will donate 25 percent of sales.
