When chef Cassy Vires opened Home Wine Kitchen in Maplewood with her husband, Josh Renbarger, there was one thing she swore she’d never do: repeat dishes.

That was a year ago, and since then, all of the loyalty and support from the local community have warmed her to the idea. As the first birthday of the restaurant approaches, Vires has decided to present a special menu in celebration of the milestone that features customers’ favorite dishes.

In an enewsletter issued today, she wrote:

“On one hand, I think, ‘wow,’ where has the time gone? On the other hand, it feels like we have been doing this forever! Either way, we are so thrilled with the successes of this year. Honestly, sometimes Josh and I sit back and think, ‘Can you believe this worked?’

“But it only worked because of the support of you. Or loyal customers who come back week after week, trying out our newest menu, saying ‘goodbye’ to dishes you enjoyed.”

She’s leaving it up to customers as to which dishes will be featured – their favorite appetizers, entrees, sides and desserts are all fair game, she says: “You ask for it, and I will put it on the menu again. Don't remember exactly what it was? Don't worry - I do! You can tell me anything you remember, heck, tell me when you came in, I will pull up your reservation and tell you what you had!”

Have a dish you’d like her to consider? Vires is taking submissions via phone (314.802.7676), Twitter and Facebook.
