In covering the St. Louis culinary scene over the years, writer Matt Sorrell has become fond of one particular aspect: the craft cocktail scene.

“Talking with so many talented bartenders, helping to tell their stories and experiencing their passion for mixology firsthand inspired me to delve even further into this fascinating subject,” says Sorrell, who contributes to FEAST and other St. Louis-area publications.

Sorrell became a member of the St. Louis chapter of the United States Bartenders’ Guild and furthered his education by completing Pernod Ricard's BarSmarts Wired and Advanced courses. He also has tried his hand at bartending at a couple local restaurants.

Now, he's parlaying his passion for cocktails into a newly launched business: Cocktails Are Go!, which offers in-home cocktail tastings and educational sessions. Different packages are available based on types of cocktails, such as the Martini, as well as broader themes, such as the cocktails of New Orleans (more here on the programs).

“I owe all of my inspiration for the project to all of the great bartenders I’ve come to know in town,” Sorrell says.
