John Stuhlman has been named chef de cuisine of Eclipse Restaurant at the Moonrise Hotel in The Loop.
He replaces Wes Johnson, who has left to focus on opening his own restaurant, Salt, in the next month or so in the Central West End.
Stuhlman, who's been part of Eclipse's culinary team since June 2010, most recently as executive sous chef, will debut his spring menu March 11.
"We are excited for John to take the helm at Eclipse," says Joe Edwards, owner of the restaurant. "He has been a critical player on our team, and now he will have the opportunity to add his own flavor to the menu."
Stuhlman brings 20 years of hospitality experience to the job, including positions at the Palace Cafe on Canal Street in New Orleans and the Racquet Club West in Ladue. His classic French and Italian training provide a strong foundation, and his dedication to fresh, locally sourced ingredients is consistent with Eclipse's philosophy.
