Earlier this week, Linda Daniels, owner of gluten-free bakery Free Range Cookies, broke the news that she's closing her Ferguson bakery.

One of three gluten-free bakeries in St. Louis, Free Range Cookies provided gluten-free breads including pita, focaccia and baguettes as well as cookies and cupcakes, all made with premium quality, whole grain, wheat-free ingredients.

"I'm grateful for four years of running a good business," Daniels says. "I've met a lot of wonderful people along the way and made good connections, but I'm ready for a new challenge."

In a blog post, Daniels wrote, "I’ll be indulging my sweet tooth by baking, blogging, and teaching classes at Kitchen Conservatory."

She also encourages Free Range customers to support other local gluten-free baked good providers: "The good news – there are two gluten free bakeries in the St. Louis area, Andrea’s in Chesterfield and New Day Gluten Free in Ellisville. In addition, Dierberg’s has done an excellent job of stocking a wide variety of gluten free products. Please consider supporting these local businesses as you continue to offer gluten free menu options or shop for your family."

For those looking to stock up on their favorites at Free Range Cookies, the store will be open Sat., Sept. 29, from noon to 3pm, and the last day of operations will be Sat., Oct. 6, from noon to 3pm.
