UPDATED: Thu., July 19, at 12:17pm: The lemonade and cupcakes proved to be a hit, with those involved happy to report that the stand raised about $600.

Beat the heat and support a worthy local charity on Wed., July 18, at Lemonade And Cupcakes For The Cause, located in front of Robust Wine Bar & Cafe in Webster Groves from 11:30am to 2pm.

All of the proceeds from the endeavor will go to Pedal the Cause, a local charity that supports cancer research.

The lemonade and cupcake stand is the brainchild of 6-year-old Molly, daughter of Robust owners Stanley and Arlene Browne, who will also be running the show.

"Molly has always wanted to do a lemonade stand," says Arlene Browne. "She said she wanted to have the money go to Pedal for a Cause because both of my sisters had been diagnosed with breast cancer, and my nephew was diagnosed with leukemia, and they're all survivors."

While the flavors have yet to be determined, the mini-cupcakes will be homemade by Molly and friends, and we're told the going rate will be 75 cents for lemonade and 50 cents per cupcake.
