Developed in response to the St. Louis-area’s growing appreciation for all things culinary, StL Culinary Tours officially launched today as a way to introduce the public to the region’s up-and-coming chefs, beverage experts, specialty artisan food producers, winemakers and local farms.

Behind the tours is owner Beth Huch, a native St Louisan with a background in culinary public relations in such cities as Dallas and New York and a self-proclaimed "culinary evangelist" striving to “intimately introduce consumers to St Louis' culinary leaders driving the progressive and vibrant culinary community.”

StL Culinary Tours conducts private and public culinary tours in such neighborhoods as Maplewood, Webster Groves, Downtown St. Louis, Central West End and Clayton as well as tours to nearby wine-country locales, such as to Chaumette Vineyards & Winery in Ste. Genevieve.

Huch leads guests on walking tours of three to five culinary establishments per neighborhood. Tours are limited to 10 guests each. Guests are served the equivalent of a full dinner, tasting one to two courses at each establishment, while sitting and dining with the chefs and proprietors of each establishment during the meal.

Tours begin at approximately 6pm and end at approximately 9pm, with StL Culinary Tours offering day tours to private groups as well.

"It is such a pleasure serving as an ambassador to our city's rich culinary scene of nationally recognized and up-and-coming chefs, beverage experts and artisan food producers," Huch says. "It is so exciting to see guests getting to know our chefs and to see chefs sharing their stories and passion about what they do and why they do it."

The next public StL Culinary Tours are to Maplewood on the following dates: Thu., Oct. 4, and Thu., Oct. 18, and Thu., Nov. 1, and Thu., Nov. 15. A full portion dinner with fine beverages are included in the ticket price as well as a swag bag with a bottle of water to stay hydrated between stops.

The Maplewood tour begins at Vom Fass, an artisan olive oil and spirits company, where guests will receive a craft cocktail while owner Anita Von Ballmoos teaches innovative oil and vinegar pairings. Guests can choose their favorite oil and vinegar pairings to take home, (also included in the ticket price).

The next stop will be at Jim Fiala's nationally recognized Maplewood restaurant, Acero, where award-winning chef Adam Knau will provide a kitchen tour and private demonstration of appetizers, pasta dishes and avant-garde entrees and Italian wine pairings.

The final stop will be at Water Street, where brother-sister team Gabe and Maria Kveton will share their sweet inspirations with dessert and nightcap.

StL Culinary Tours is currently scheduling private, corporate, alumni and group tours. Gift certificates are also available on the website,
