Visitors to the South Grand community with a taste for Afghani-style food have a new haunt: Orkeed Restaurant.

Orkeed, which opened its doors on Fri., May 11, at 3191 South Grand in the former Al Waha and Hooka Lounge space, features a similar menu of Middle Eastern dishes such as hummus and kebabs but is under new ownership.

Owner Taif Jassim says the restaurant is off to a good start after the mid-May launch. Diners looking for rich midday fix will appreciate Orkeed Restaurant's $4.99 lunch specials.
