Shop Girl Heidi Dean is spending time at Seafood City in July to bring you all the must-buy-and-try goodies.

Item of The Week: Asian Melon

I like to take culinary chances when I shop at international markets. When I visited Seafood City Supermarket's well-stocked produce section, I couldn't resist this adorable little melon.

Priced at 99 cents per pound, it's about 20 percent bigger than a softball, and the flesh was extremely sweet. In terms of taste, it was most like a honeydew. A very sweet, juicy, cute honeydew that was so delicious I stood at the counter and ate half of it with a spoon.

Venture to Vietnam

Love Asian food? Don't miss July's Fall For The Flavors of Vietnam feature in which St. Louis-based photographer Gregg Goldman's riveting food-culture photographs from a recent trip to the country inspired us to talk with local Vietnamese chefs about how they apply their homeland's culinary philosophy.
