Cat spotlights two St. Louis-area food purveyors that built fan bases without storefronts and then opened up places of their own this month.

She drops by The Sweet Divine to chat with the owner, who first tested the waters for her goodies with her namesake food truck, and to try out the specialty cupcakes, cookies and more at the new brick-and-mortar location. Then, she pulls up a stool at Southwest Diner, opened last week by a duo that recognized the potential in launching a restaurant after the success of their eponymously named taco stand at the Tower Grove Farmers’ Market.
